I decided, after much encouragement, that a blog would be the best way to keep everyone on the eastern side of this lovely country updated on my western activities. As some of you know all too well, I am quite skilled in the act of starting. Finishing tends to be a different story, so here's to hoping this endeavor is far more successful than previous attempts!
S and I are currently 48 hours into our co-habitation and he seems to be handling my extreme OCD tendencies rather well. I think the funfetti cake helped to sway him to the dark side in which I control all aspects of possession placement/relocation. Whatever, so far so good.
This weekend was spent primarily organizing, shopping and re-organizing the apartment/my 923849023 boxes of clothes. In regards to unpacking, I'd say we are 80% there (this does not include the 8 boxes arriving this week). Perfection takes time.
Yesterday we were getting a little stir crazy after spending the entire morning shopping and transporting Ikea products so we went for a 4 mile walk at Crissy Field/partially onto the GG. The traffic on the bridge is a real buzz kill (/ 2 feet from where you're walking and attempting conversation) so that part of the walk was very short lived. I'd post pictures of said walk, except we looked so unbelievably douche-y I can't bring myself to do it. We were too match-y in our workout gear for anyone to see the pictures and not throw up a little bit in their mouths. Lesson learned, however, and future photo-ops will be much better thought out.
I've not had much time to start exploring, but so far everyone seems nice and the convenience of a car and a suburban-esque grocery store have been life changing. In the past 48 hours I have baked a funfetti cake (which may or may not have come from a box, but that shouldn't belittle the attempt!), eggplant parmesan, tacos (ole!) and a few delicious salads. Holy domestic, who knew?!
Ironically, I'm writing this post from Gate 48 at SFO, waiting for my flight down to LA for 3 days. I'll be back in San Francisco on Wednesday night and will hopefully be keeping both feet on solid ground from now until Thanksgiving. S has volunteered a few weekend ideas, one being "full moon bay" (yes, that is absolutely incorrect, for all of you wondering) and seeing a movie about a Formula One driver which can only be considered retribution for me making him sit through the Bill Cunningham Documentary (which, for all of you wondering, was amazing).
Wanted to get something written down though for everyone since I've been uncharacteristically unresponsive since arrival on Saturday. Hoping things slow down a bit over the next few weeks and that I can communicate with everyone on an individual level with greater frequency.
xx
