hiking

So, I've caught you all up with my Saturday morning activities. Now for the remainder of the weekend..

Saturday afternoon was lazy. Very, very lazy. Mainly on account of my 5.5 mile run and S's morning surf. As for the evening hours, we once again had grand plans of going out for dinner Saturday night but after watching the Stanford "game", we felt very defeated ourselves and decided, once again, to just order in. We ordered pizza from a little shop a few blocks away called Pauline's Pizza. It's like many SF restaurants in that they use only local, organic ingredients. The difference is Pauline's grows most of those organic ingredients themselves, in a little garden! I went in to pick up our salad & pepperoni/mushroom pizza and was pleasantly surprised to find out that this little piece of deliciousness was a mere $40! Yes, you read that right. One large pizza and one small salad = $40 (that's 8 $5 foot longs for all math majors out there). I suppose that's the price you pay for a garden. I will say though, in their defense, that pizza was AMAZING. AAHHHH MAZING. Perhaps the best pizza I've ever had (bold statement, I realize). If any of you come to visit, we will treat you to the world's most delicious (and expensive) pizza.

As for Sunday..

What a Day it was! S and I woke up early and headed north to Marin for a hike that had been suggested to us a few weeks back. The hike started at Muir Beach, which is about a 20 minute drive from our apartment in the city. S and I were waiting for some friends to come and meet us so we took a few minutes to wander around the black sands of Muir Beach and got some amazing pictures. Once our friends arrived we began our hike. It ended up being about a 4 mile loop up a hill that overlooks Muir Beach, the coastline and all the way across Marin. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, 65, sunny, and not a cloud in sight.

The hike looped us around to a little pub/inn called Pelican Inn. It's a British pub complete with a menu of "fish + chips" and "bangers + mash" (we tried both, deeelicious!). We were able to order inside at the little bar and then take our food and beverages outside on the lawn for an impromptu picnic.

After lunch, S and I headed down to Sausalito to check out a little bike shop before heading back to the city and making a quick stop at Whole Foods for dinner (and dessert, perhaps even more important).

We made my mom's chili recipe for dinner (was amazing) followed by a banana, blueberry, and chocolate chip bread which I just sampled for the first time and OH MY GOODNESS. Amazing! Recipe for just the banana bread can be found here: http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/banana_bread/

We altered cooking time to 45 minutes, and added 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and 1/2 cup of blueberries. Highly recommend this recipe & the additions. We're now sitting in our chair, with the fire burning and Harry Potter on TV. I'm heading back to NY tomorrow for a week of training my replacement at work. I just checked the weather and the forecast calls for rain + highs in the 40s! I have a feeling this trip will act to secure my decision to move to California.

I'll be back home Friday evening and hope to have more weekend adventures to report back on. Hope you're all doing well and that I either see you in NY this week or hear from you while I'm back on east coast hours.

xx
